To Hel and Back

A challenge for charity…
Late in March 2010, Tom Picton and Carl James left to drive from Buckinghamshire, England, to Die Hel near Cape Town in South Africa, then attempt to drive back home.
We will travel down the East coast of Africa, before returning up the far less travelled and less developed West coast.
We will go from the savanah to the sahara, drop to the lowest point on the African landmass, cross full blown mountain ranges with vitually non existent roads before inching our way through mosquito infested swamps - this really is the ultimate travelling challenge.
A circumnavigation of Africa, the hardest way round we could have found, but we hope to leave a lasting legacy through helping Link Ethiopia improve sports provision in Northern Ethiopia as well as working with various other projects across the continent. We do not hide that 11 months travelling abroad makes us very lucky, but hope to use the trip as a way of raising £10,000 for two amazing charities Link Ethiopia and Alzheimer’s Research Trust UK.
We hope you find the website interesting and follow our journey through the online diary and mapvivo webpage, both of which can be found at the top of the page.
Please help us support the life changing work of both of these charities and donate using the secure Paypal icon on this page. Please note that you do not need a paypal account to donate using the paypal icon.
